Learning from Movies: Red Sun

Posted on May 9, 2011

A short one this week.

  • Sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know.
  • Gunfighters and samurai sometimes had a lot in common.
  • When you judge someone based on their appearance, you’re saying more about your prejudices than you are about them.
  • Be careful who you trust.
  • Seeing is not observing.
  • Actions breed respect, and respect crosses all language barriers.
  • Honor is not unique to any time or culture.
  • Determination and focus can last even beyond death.

Sometimes a British director, working in Spain, with Spanish and Italian extras; an American, a Japanese, a French, and a Swedish star; produces some fun work.
